The information below should be used as a guide during the tryout process and throughout the season. Please read the information and keep it as a reference.

Playing AAU basketball is a big family commitment, both financially and time-consuming. Teams that we compete against are very talented and very serious. Please make sure you are ready to commit. If your child is trying to play 2 sports at once, this is probably not the club for you.

North Oakland Wolfpack is a competitive basketball environment and does not utilize an equal playing time protocol. Parent and player commitment is required for practices and tournaments. Travel to tournaments, including hotel stays, is also required. A financial commitment is required to participate as a member of this AAU basketball organization.

Should we attend open gym? Players should try to attend open gyms. The more you get a chance to showcase your abilities, the greater your chances of getting noticed. Each player is required to attend the tryout.

How do I know what team I am trying out for? Teams are formed based on age/grade.

Is there a fee for open gyms and tryouts? Open gyms are free. There is a $10 cash only registration fee for tryouts.

How long does the season last? Boys 10U-12U and Girls 10U - 13U seasons will be October 2023 - March 2024; Boys 13U and 14U seasons will be February 2023 - June 2024. There may be situations where individual coaches canvass their players to see if they are interested in playing longer.

When does your High School teams start? Tryouts for High School players will be in March. Tournament play will begin April 2024 - July 2025. The North Oakland Wolfpack abides by the MSHAA rule regarding Middle School, Junior High and High School players.

How does practice work? Teams practice 1-2 times per week for one and a half  hours, depending upon facility availability and coaches schedule. Days and times vary between teams. Practice schedules will be released when the rosters are completed.

Where will games be played? This year our younger teams will play in a league to start the season. North Oakland Wolfpack teams will also play in AAU tournaments locally beginning December 2023. There maybe a few tournament that will require travel and overnight stay. Games are typically Saturday and Sunday, unless its a one-day event. Games may be scheduled any time between 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. High School teams may play games during the week during NCAA certified/live periods

What is the cost to players? All North Oakland Wolfpack teams will have a detailed breakdown of the cost when the rosters are completed.

Are uniforms mandatory? Each player is required to purchase a uniform, which can be used for multiple seasons. The cost is typically less than $100.

How do I know who my coach will be? Coaches are listed on the website and will introduce themselves at open gym and/or tryouts.

Is this a community-based team? No. North Oakland Wolfpack's goal is to be a preferred organization for all elite basketball players throughout Oakland County.

Are you a non-profit organization? Yes. The Wolfpack will be looking for team, league and tournament sponsors. Please contact us if you or someone you know are interested in sponsoring our team/organization.
